Gov. Dannel Malloy says he has not been asked to testify in the criminal probe into his 2014 re-election campaign.
Federal investigators are trying to determine if $275,000 spent by the Connecticut Democratic Party on the governor's behalf was illegally contributed.
Authorities suspect that money was donated by private contractors who are not allowed to contribute to state elections.
The governor says he has not hired a private attorney, but will not comment further on the investigation.
