Gov. Dannel Malloy thanked state police Tuesday for saving 100 lives with the overdose-reversal drug Narcan.
State police began carrying Narcan in 2014 and say it is another tool used to fight the growing opioid epidemic.
Police say drugs create more addicts every day across the state, which is part of the reason why Connecticut recently passed a law requiring first responders to carry Narcan.
Other local police departments are starting to carry Narcan. Westport police say they will start Narcan training and will likely have kits with them in the fall.
