Gov. Dannel Malloy is unveiling $170 million in spending cuts across state agencies.

It is the first part of his plan to close the $365 million budget deficit.

The plan slashes $161 million from the state's executive branch. That includes $32 million from the Department of Social Services.

Legislative leaders have agreed to cut their spending by about $3 million.

Another $5 million would be cut from the judicial branch.
