Gov. Dannel Malloy's latest budget proposal is calling for a cut to how much money should be given to those who can't afford to bury their loved ones.
The General Assembly had already cut the state's maximum stipend from $1,800 to $1,400 six months ago.
But Malloy wants the stipend to be cut down to $1,000.
His administration wants to ensure the state only pays for truly necessary funeral expenses.
