Residents in southwestern Connecticut can forget about the planned increased of the state's gas tax. Gov. Jodi Rell (R-Conn.) and the General Assembly have agreed to stop the hike in response to rising prices at the pump.The tax was set to increase from 7 percent to 7.5 percent on July 1. The increase would have sent gas prices up 3-4 cents a gallon and would have meant another $25 million in revenue for Connecticut.State leaders say they will meet next week to discuss exactly how to prevent the tax hike.News 12 Connecticut Gas Gauge
