The federal government granted temporary legal immigration status to two children in Connecticut who were separated from their parents under the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance immigration policy, according to the children’s attorneys.
The government granted the 9-year-old and 14-year-old one year of humanitarian parole in the United States, a statement said.
A judge had found in July that the separation violated due process and that the children were suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The children’s parents were transferred to Connecticut and reunited with the children.
