A grandmother of two Stratford students is thanking News 12 Connecticut this evening for helping to make her granddaughter's bus stop safer.
Debbie Pittman says forcing her young granddaughters Kaliyah and Azara Frasier to cross Nichols Avenue was an accident waiting to happen. She says it was a very dangerous situation, especially because Azara has special needs and may run into traffic.
Pittman says she has fought the bus company and school district for two months to move the stop across the street, but had no luck. She said she planned to protest today by blocking the school bus and traffic until the police came, but News 12 Connecticut stepped in first.
The bus company, We Transport, told News 12 Connecticut today that the current stop was safe, but later the Director of Transportation for Bridgeport Schools said the stop had been moved.
