Students at a Bridgeport school enjoyed a day of fun Tuesday, thanks to an NFL player who knows how memorable field day can be.
Classical Studies Magnet Academy students experienced a field day they may never forget, thanks to Aaron Jones, running back for the Green Bay Packers.
Field day was originally planned to be held at Seaside Park in Bridgeport last week, due to the lack of field on the school grounds. The school is all asphalt.
But field day fell on the same day Connecticut experienced awful air quality conditions due to smoke from the wildfires in Canada, so it was canceled.
That was until Danielle Gray, the physical education teacher at the school mentioned her disappointment to her dear friend Jones.
Jones donated money to make field day happen for the school.
On Monday, the students had a field day filled with pizza, an ice cream truck, a bouncy house and even water balloons.
"It wasn't just your regular field day, some of the kids were saying time it was the best day ever because of all the extra stuff they got to use the money towards. So, I just hope that I know everybody remembers their field day when they grow up so I really just that the kids in Bridgeport remember theirs," said Gray.
Students made thank you cards to express just how much the day meant to them.
