Greenwich attorney John Q. Kelly has won many big victories for high-profile clients over the years, but Wednesday's win may have been his biggest yet. Kelly was chief litigator for President Donald Trump's lawsuit against social media giant Meta, parent company of Facebook, which Trump brought to an end Wednesday when he signed an agreement in the Oval Office. It states Meta will pay Trump $25 million.
The lawsuit claimed Facebook, at the behest of the FBI, censored the Hunter Biden laptop story weeks before the 2020 presidential election, ultimately costing Trump that race. Then it says Facebook censored Trump for two years in the wake of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
"Even though they're a private company, they've been held feet-to-the-fire liable because they were doing the dirty work for government actors," Kelly told News 12 in an exclusive interview Wednesday.
Meta - which admitted no wrongdoing in the agreement - declined to comment.
