A Greenwich nonprofit held a fundraiser in Stamford Sunday to benefit children and adults with autism.
The Friends of Autistic People advocates for people with profound autism in Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties.
The event featured live musical performances, food and drinks.
Organizers said the event raises awareness for those in need of resources.
"They find themselves without appropriate support. They have all these special educations and suddenly there's nothing. So it's a total waste of money to have this special aid services and then nothing to continue. There needs to be a continuum of services as needed. Everybody needs a different level of support," said Brita Darany Von Regensburg, founder and president of Friends of Autistic People.
Some of the proceeds raised will directly fund music-based autism therapy sessions for kids with nonverbal autism.
