The Greenwich Police Department took to Facebook to remind the community about the importance of following Connecticut's laws when it comes to e-bikes and similar motorized vehicles.

The department stated that some bikes, such as the one pictured below, are often mistaken for e-bikes, but are actually classified as an electric motorcycle due to the power it holds of 10,000 watts.

This kind of motorcycle is subject to the same types of rules as a traditional motor vehicle.

The motorcycles must be operated legally on the roadway and registered and insured by a properly licensed operator, according to officials.

The Greenwich Police Department has been addressing its concerns through ongoing enforcement and education efforts.

These come into play when a violation may occur, which may result in adults receiving infraction tickets, juveniles being issued a summons and potential towing of vehicles.
