Volunteers in Redding teamed up with a local lawmaker and a non-profit organization to help a veteran in need.
Purple Heart Homes led a group of volunteers in repairing the home of Alexander Sawchyn, 89, yesterday. 
Sawchyn's homeowners' insurance was canceled because he was unable to complete costly repairs like installing a new roof. 
Organizers say its important to step up and help veterans in need in our community.
