The Guardian Angels took to the streets of south Norwalk Friday in an effort to make residents feel ?safe in the street.?
The group has been trying to establish a chapter in the city despite opposition from Norwalk officials, but that hasn't deterred them.
Members of the New Haven chapter of the group spent the night showing some Norwalk recruits the ropes. They say their presence has made a difference back in their home city.
?When we first started in New Haven, people would pull down their blinds and stay in all night,? says one member of the group. ?Now they are starting to come out and get to know each other.?
The group says it has been forbidden from entering any of Norwalk's public housing complexes because they have not received written permission from the city's housing authority.
