Gubernatorial candidates participate in forum in Roxbury
Six Democratic gubernatorial candidates participated at a forum at Roxbury Town Hall Sunday.
Members of the public were able to bring questions for the candidates.
The event was hosted by the Democratic Town Committees of the 32nd State Senate District.
Some candidates for other state offices had their turn Saturday in Bridgeport.
Members of the Democratic Town Committee's 135th District invited candidates to answer questions.
Organizers say the event, on Reservoir Avenue, was a forum for candidates to state their positions and defend their records.
District Leader Steve Nelson says the North End needs a greater police presence, and its own library.
"We have four schools located in this district, a new high school, Fairchild Wheeler, Wilbur Cross, Park City Magnate, Hallen School and out kids have to go to either Madison Avenue or downtown for a library. We really are pushing hard for the support of our elected officials to bring a library up in this district," says Steve Nelson, DTC District Leader.
Nelson says the panel will interview more candidates next week at a second forum.
