A nonprofit that promotes hard work, discipline and fair play held a charity boxing event in Stratford Saturday.
The Chick Rosnick Boxing Club presented a program called "Guns Down, Gloves Up" at Vazzano's Four Seasons.
The event featured dozens of fighters taking part in a competition sanctioned by the World Boxing Organization, with proceeds benefiting the Chick Rosnick Boxing Club.
Attorney Mike Rosnick said the night has one very important purpose.
"To honor my grandfather and what he stood for and the values that he taught to children about how to conduct yourself as a young man or a young woman -- and it's very meaningful, this organization, to my father and I," Rosnick said.
The family said their patriarch was a top coach and educator at the old Jewish Community Center on Park Avenue. The dinner kicked off at 6 p.m., with the boxing match afterwards.
