Officials say back in 2019, Kevin Iman McCormick expressed his intent to go to Syria and fight for ISIS.
He attempted to board a flight but was stopped by Homeland Security.
Officials also say that McCormick posted a video of himself pledging allegiance to the terrorist group.
McCormick's sentencing is scheduled for April 6.
