The Darien community came together to celebrate Hanukkah, despite the cold weather Thursday evening.

"We've gotten over 100 people in the middle of Darien celebrating Hanukah, the night after Christmas and that's really exciting," said event organizer Dan Guller.

A six-foot-tall menorah was lit up at the Grove Street Plaza, accompanied by singing, dancing, food, giveaways, and fun activities for kids.

The event also included a food drive, with collected items to be donated to the Open Doors Shelter in Norwalk.

The Grove Street Menorah will be lit every night of Hanukkah at 6 p.m. by a different Jewish Darien family.
