A Hartford native competed in his first Olympics on Tuesday as figure skater Maxim Naumov took the ice in Milan.
Naumov, a Simsbury High School graduate, held a picture of his parents after finishing his skate while he waited for his scores.
His parents were killed in last year's crash outside Washington, D.C., when an American Airlines plane collided with a Blackhawk helicopter over the Potomac River. They had been coaches at the Skating Club of Boston.
Naumov previously said he did not know if he would skate again after their deaths but vowed to remain resilient. He will compete again in the men's free skate on Friday.
