Westport?s health department tackled questions and tried to alleviate concerns about mold in a local school after parents called for answers.
Parents say a mold problem at Kings Highway School has caused children to become sick. They formed a committee to try to ensure something will be done about the problem before the start of the next school year. The school district says the levels of mold in the school are not dangerous.
Local and state health officials held a meeting Wednesday night and told parents that students are safe to return to the school in September.
Despite hearing from health officials, some parents maintain there is a mold problem.
School board officials said they would overhaul the school's ventilation system and replace carpeting.
