? An ethics hearing into a fundraiser for Governor Jodi Rell (R-CT) stretched into a third day in Hartford with emotions still running high.
The committee conducting the hearings questioned one witness for almost three hours Friday, leading to some Republicans getting frustrated. They argue that Democrats are repeatedly covering the same topics. However, Chris Caruso (D-Bridgeport) says the investigation is progressing.
Several state commissioners who passed out invitations they received to the fundraiser maintain they were not soliciting money for Rell. Governor Rell?s campaign manager later brokered a deal with the Elections Enforcement Commission to only fine the commissioners $500 each. Caruso says Elections Enforcement should be investigating corruption, not striking deals.
