Heavy winds cause concern following snow in New Milford

Mayor Pete Bass tells News 12's Mark Sudol he credits the Department of Public Works crews who plowed and removed snow, especially in higher elevations.
He says there were no issues on the roads.

However, Bass says his next concern is the heavy winds.
"The forecast is anywhere from 30-50 mph winds and that could drop some of tree canopy here in New Milford. We have the largest tree canopy in the state. So that can knock down trees, knock down power lines," says Bass.
To prepare for any possible power outages, Bass and town officials say residents should make sure their generators have plenty of fuel and are placed outside.
He recommends people charge their electronics as well.
Bass says if there is a need for any warming shelters, officials will open them.
