At first glance, it looks like a blast from the past: a throwback VHS rental shop lined with classic tapes and movie memories.
But behind the nostagia sits a secret.
Tucked behind a soda vending machine is The Gilded Curtain, a speakeasy designed to transport guests into another era.
Owner Jeremy Gildden says the illusion was intentional.
"I hope I throw them off,” he says, "I just happen to love movies and classic films, and I thought what's better than going for that 'Casablanca' feel?"
The front of the business is dedicated to a fake storefront, modeled after a 1980s or 1990s video rental shop.
"The video rental store was one of a couple ideas that came to my mind and just the one that stuck,” he said. “The old 'Blockbuster [Video],' 'Tommy K's' video, 'Mad Mikes,' just real nostalgic.”
Once inside, guests will find an intimate lounge filled with vintage decor, gold details and low lighting.
It’s an escape hidden in plain sight.
Press the right button and you too can be transported behind The Gilded Curtain.
