A home invasion and armed robbery in Fairfield prompted a shelter-in-place order Thursday, closing two schools and shutting down a stretch of Candlewood Road near Black Rock Turnpike, police said.
Authorities say all four suspects believed to be involved have been apprehended and are in police custody. Residents in the immediate area are no longer being asked to shelter in place.
No injuries have been reported.
Fairfield police and Connecticut State Police are blocking Candlewood Road in both directions at Tunxis Hill and Black Rock Turnpike.
McKinley School, ECC Warde, and Fairfield Warde High School are closed for the day out of an abundance of caution. Staff assigned to those schools were told not to report. Custodial staff were advised to await instructions from supervisors. All other schools are operating on a typical schedule.
Drivers are being told to avoid Candlewood Road, though Black Rock Turnpike remains open.
