A cleaning woman from Bridgeport who says she saved for years to put a stone wall around her home is asking for the public's help in finding the hit-and-run driver who smashed through it, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Home security video shows a dark-colored sedan crashing through the wall at Madison Avenue and Ashton Street at around 1 a.m. Wednesday. A moment later, the driver backed up and fled the scene.
Homeowner Eni DaSilva says the wall cost her about $15,000 to build. DaSilva says it will cost $3,000 to $5,000 to repair due to the extensive damage, and she is not sure if any of it will be covered by insurance.
Police say they located the empty car a few blocks away shortly after the accident. They are asking for the public's help in solving the case.
