Unionized hotel and office workers rallied outside the Sheraton in Stamford Friday night against the way they say they're being treated during the pandemic.
Workers say it’s tough enough being out of a job, but to add insult to injury, employers cut off insurance benefits at a time when it's needed most.
They say they want unemployment payments released immediately, relief for undocumented workers, full medical coverage and more protections for front-line workers.
They say it is time for multibillion-dollar companies to step up during trying times.
Representatives of other hotel chains in the city say the protest caught them by surprise. They say they haven't laid off a single worker, choosing to furlough employees instead so they can receive benefits.
