State representatives passed a $35.7 billion state budget Friday, but the bill now goes to Gov. Jodi Rell, who is expected to veto it.
Rell says she has serious concerns, saying the budget doesn't balance, spends too much, has too many taxes and not enough cuts. The state Senate passed the bill Thursday.
Republican lawmakers say the proposal hurts taxpayers and businesses of the state, while Democrats contend it is a fair and responsible plan. Rell says she plans to sit with Democrats next week to reach a budget deal she hopes contains meaningful cuts.
