Hundreds of people celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In Westport Sunday.

The 10th annual event was held at the Westport Country Playhouse. The previous nine were held at area churches or temples.

The event's chairman, Rev. Edward Horne, says that the celebration felt more inclusive, which was Dr. King's message.

The event began with a performance by the Staples High School a cappella choir and also featured a recital of Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech by students from the Regional Center for the Arts in Trumbull.

The event's keynote speaker was Marilyn Ford, a professor at Quinnipiac Law School, who said that given recent race-related events in the United States, Dr. King's words are as relevant today as they were when he was alive.

A performance by the Serendipity Chorale closed out the event.

The celebration was sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Westport and Weston, Team Westport and the Westport Country Playhouse.
