Hundreds of cars lined up at Veterans Park in Norwalk Wednesday morning for donations from the Connecticut Food Bank.
The event was the first time since May that the organization held a donation drive-thru handout. The food bank says the need to keep food on the table has not gone away.
"We've been monitoring the unemployment numbers," says Connecticut Food Bank COO Daniel Gomez. "And even when unemployment dipped from 11 to 8%, it surely didn't diminish our work and our efforts. We continue to see food insecurity grow throughout the state."
The food bank says they're hoping to donate to 1,800 families and to make this event monthly.
