Friday is the deadline for employees at Yale New Haven Health to show proof of vaccination and now hundreds could possibly lose their jobs.
Officials with Yale New Haven Health say out of over 30,000 employees across the state, just under 400 have still not submitted proof of vaccination or an exemption request.
They say most of the unvaccinated staff work in environmental services, food services and the financial office. Starting Monday, employees not in compliance will get a verbal warning followed by a written one next Friday.
Chief clinical officer Dr. Tom Balcezak says Johnson & Johnson shots are ready to go for employees who need them. He says in the midst of a global pandemic, the network would prefer not to lose any of its workers.
After a verbal and written warning employees who still haven't gotten a shot by Oct. 18 will be terminated.
The deadline for Hartford Healthcare employees to show proof of vaccination was Thursday.
