A Bridgeport mom tells News 12 she is furious and scared after a bullet was fired into her home Saturday.
Brenda Lozada, 46, says a bullet went through the kitchen window of her Greene Homes Apartment home early Saturday morning.
Lozada says it went right passed her refrigerator, where she and her daughters could easily have been standing nearby.
"I was in shock. I mean, you would think that the first floor wouldn't be that dangerous and the second and the third," says Lozada. "...We are not safe, not even on the high floors."
The bullet has been recovered and turned into Bridgeport police. Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter released a statement saying "I take Ms. Lozada's concerns very seriously and I plan to look into them personally, to ensure that her case is thoroughly investigated. My foremost concern is the safety of Bridgeport residents."
Lozanda says she still wants to know why the police say the city’s gunfire detection system wasn’t activated in this case. As law enforcement continues their investigation, she plans to ask housing officials for an emergency transfer because she no longer feels safe.
"This needs to stop and this needs to stop now,” she said.
