State police say they were busy Monday morning as a second straight day of slippery conditions caused accidents throughout southwestern Connecticut.
Local doctors say emergency rooms have been packed in the last 24 hours due to injuries caused by the icy conditions.
They say icy sidewalks can lead to broken bones, concussions and other injuries. Doctors say the threat of ice isn't always a concern for people until they actually fall and get seriously hurt.
Doctors at Fairfield Urgent Care Center say they saw patients of all ages, but the majority of injuries came from elderly folks.
Doctors suggest investing in boots with good traction and taking smaller steps if walking over ice.
