A funeral was held Wednesday for a Bridgeport man whose body was found 12 hours after he was fatally shot.
Family and friends gave a final farewell to 25-year-old Bridgeport man Aaron Hunt at the Canaan Institutional Baptist Church in South Norwalk Wednesday.
His father Geary Hunt welcomed mourners one by one as they came to pay their respects.
"It's a nightmare. I think I'm living in a nightmare. I'm trying to wake up from the nightmare, but I know it's factual that he's gone," Geary Hunt said.
Attorney Darnell Crosland announced plans last week to sue the Bridgeport Police Department after it was that revealed Aaron Hunt's body was found about 12 hours after being shot on Denver Avenue.
"He can't process his son laying in the road, laying in the street for 10-12 hours. It's just inhumane," said Crosland. "Just laying in the road."
Terrance Hunt says his brother had provided around-the-clock care for their mom 10 years ago before she died of cancer, then carried the burden of that loss for years.
"He loved his mother, you know? He loved his mother dearly, and he was there by her side through thick and thin," said Terrance Hunt. "It's just sad, you know, he had to die in that way."
The family said Aaron Hunt is at peace now, reunited with his mother.
"I just want justice for my son. That's all I want-- justice for my son," said Geary Hunt.
Police have identified 27-year-old Andre Johnson, of Bridgeport, as a suspect and say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
