Some young children have a new place to learn and grow in Wilton: a Montessori school.
The school cut the ribbon Monday on its toddler and infant-parent rooms. Community members were invited to a breakfast and to tour the school.
School officials believe the new rooms with further the school's mission by introducing children to cognitive challenges early on.
"'Emotional intelligence' is a big buzzword right now," said Sarah Walker, of the Montessori School. "The Montessori philosophy embeds that from the very start, about being aware of a child's development from all different particular stages and being sensitive to that and knowing how to enact that is part of what we do here every single day."
The toddler room is equipped with workstations and furnishings designed with a toddler's size in mind.
