An inmate accused of attacking a corrections officer was found dead in his cell Thursday morning at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Facility in Suffield.

Officials say Jaishon Bellamy was transferred there after a reported assault Monday at Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers.

The officer said Bellamy choked and punched her during an attempted sexual assault.

The state inspector general says it appears Bellamy committed suicide.
