Interactive holiday experience comes to Massapequa as The Santa House debuts
Kids of all ages explored the home where all the rooms were renovated to look like Santa's home.
Holiday lights dazzled spectators who walked through the Santa House on Merrick Road in Massapequa Saturday night, giving Long Islanders a glimpse of what it's like to visit the North Pole.
Rosemarie Ruiz, of Seaford, brought her family.
"This is amazing. I don't even hang a wreath in my house. So this is so impressive," Ruiz said.
Kids of all ages explored the home where all the rooms were renovated to look like Santa's home. Elves helped attendees with mailing Santa’s letters, building toys, and checking if their name made Santa's nice list. Then it was off for a visit with the jolly man himself.
After visiting Santa, part of the experience involves a visit with Mrs. Claus, who is busy baking in the kitchen.
"And we know Santa's favorite food is cookies," Mrs. Claus shouted to some kids who strolled through the kitchen and helped decorate a gingerbread house.
The Santa House was imagined by Allie Murphy, who decided to brighten her first holiday as a single mom by brightening others. Along with a group of her friends, they changed an old home into one of the North Pole's prime real estate -- Santa's House.
"It's been a real joy and it's been a lot of hard work, but everyone's come together," Murphy said.
She explained there are two types of interactive experiences. One is more private, and the other is more of a "selfie" experience.
