The family of a Fairfield Prep student who was fatally stabbed at a party is reacting to a not guilty verdict on Wednesday.

Jimmy McGrath's father, Kevin says he was shocked when speaking to reporters following Wednesday's verdict.

"Can’t even imagine that I’m standing here giving this part of the speech," McGrath said. "I’m in disbelief based on the evidence that was out there."

The family's attorney, Michael Rosnick, was quick to point out that the case is not over yet, saying there are many civil cases still pending.

"We will still be pursuing justice to hold anyone that bears any responsibility that led to the chain of events that night," Rosnick said. "It’s our job to hold them accountable and that will come with time. We’re confident that we’ll get there."

McGrath went on to thank the judge, jury and all the first responders who were there that night.

"It’s not over," McGrath said. "I would just like to thank our community, our friends, our family and everybody that has supported us through our darkest hours."
