A judge has postponed making a decision in the case of two Stamford High School principals arrested for allegedly failing to report a sexual relationship between a teacher and a student.
Police say principal Donna Valentine and assistant principal Roth Nordin knew about a relationship between Danielle Watkins, 32, and an 18-year-old student, but failed to report it to the Department of Children and Families as required by law.
A new allegation says Valentine failed to report another incident in 2011, when a ninth-grade girl said that a male teacher inappropriately touched her. The report said the teacher apologized and that the student accepted the apology. The report also said the incident was not forwarded to the state Department of Children and Families or police.
In light of the new information, the judge said that he needed more time to make a decision. The administrators initially had asked to enter into accelerated rehabilitation, which is a special form of probation that would eventually erase the charges from their records.
Valentine and Nordin are set to appear in court again next week, when the judge is expected to make a decision.
