The fate of Lords Bakery was decided in court today and the business is now being forced out of their Flatbush location.

The owner of Lords Bakery, David Drake, says that a series of events led to him not paying some bills. The bakery was bought in 2022 and things quickly went south.

“The landlord gave me plenty of time but at the same time there were plenty of problems,” said Drake. “And I hung in there even though I knew after a month the business was losing money."

David Drake started a GoFundme to pay what he owed, but didn’t get enough. The landlord’s attorney argued that the large bills went unpaid for too long – and the judge agreed.

“I really didn't expect this outcome. Not only for me, my family, my coworkers but the community because the outpouring from the community has been absolutely amazing,” said Drake.
