The Stamford community is rallying around a young boy who's facing a health battle.
Harold Alvarez, 12, was diagnosed with bone cancer on April 11. His mother says his struggle started with knee pains, and they quickly found out was osteosarcoma.
His teachers, classmates and members of the community came out on Saturday to host a kickball tournament to raise money for his medical bills.
There were lots of purple decorations at the tournament in honor of Alvarez; it's his favorite color.
Alvarez says he will be undergoing his first surgery next weekend, and the tournament put him in great spirits ahead of the procedure.
The boy's family has set up a GoFundMe page to collect funds for his medical expenses.
