Sen. Chris Murphy joined state and local officials to help fight addiction in Bridgeport Friday.
Everyone gathered at the Kinsella Treatment Center to celebrate a large donation.
The Bridgeport facility is one of several to benefit from a new $10 million grant.
Local officials who deal with addiction say this is just one part of solving the drug problem in Connecticut.
"Substance abuse is something we're still challenge by as a state," said Miriam Delphin-Rittmon of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. "We are continuing to see the overdoses go up but I'm feeling encouraged in that we have a number of initiatives across the state."
The grant will also allow the department to make medical-assistance treatment more accessible.
