Weston's Lachat Town Farm held its 5th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. day of service on Monday morning to honor his legacy and promote volunteerism.
Volunteers were on hand putting together items to benefit local charities that provide emergency shelter for men and women, including food pantries and youth programs.
Organizers said both adults and students were on hand to help. Now dozens of people will receive personal care items and other essentials.
"We have socks for men and women, shaving cream, shampoo, razors, soap, body lotions and tissues,” said Barbara Gross, a volunteer.
During the event, historical moments from King's speeches were shown.
