More than a dozen Democratic governors, including Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, are joining a boycott of a White House dinner after two Democratic governors were excluded from the event in Washington, D.C.

The decision follows President Trump excluding Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and Colorado Gov. Jared Polis from the dinner. The event is part of the annual gathering of the National Governors Association.

It is traditional for the president to host a bipartisan meeting and a black‑tie dinner at the White House for attendees. This year, the White House intends to limit the dinner invitations to Republican governors only.

In response, Democratic governors issued a joint statement saying they have a long record of working across the aisle to deliver results and remain committed to that effort. They said it is disappointing the administration does not share the same goal. The statement added that at every turn, President Trump is creating chaos and division and that the American people are hurting as a result.
