A state senator is crying out against a cost-cutting measure that he says is putting Connecticut drivers at risk.

State Sen. Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) says the length of grass along the side of the highway is causing dangerous conditions for people trying to merge onto the roadways. The state chose to mow the grass less frequently to save on costs.

"Sometimes these decisions that we make do affect public safety," Duff says. "We have to be smart about the choices we are making right now."

Duff contends that the grass gets up to four feet high in some places.
