Southwestern Connecticut's transportation issues got major attention Wednesday as lawmakers debated solutions.Connecticut leaders gathered at the Capitol Wednesday with transportation at the top of their agendas. The so-called "Super 7" highway between Norwalk and Danbury was a top concern. Many leaders support the current widening project on the congested stretch of Route 7 instead of the Super 7 construction. However, Super 7 supporters voiced their hope for economic improvement in the area resulting from the highway.Tractor-trailer safety along the stretch has also been a hot topic of debate recently. Wednesday, lawmakers discussed a proposal to extend the operation time of the Greenwich weigh station by four hours. Two local senators are sponsoring the bill, which they say is critical to the state's ability to provide for safety on the highways. However, many believe the proposal needs to include more than one weigh station to be effective.
