Lawmakers and local leaders met in Hartford today to discuss legislation that would require all residential homes in Connecticut to have working smoke detectors.
The bill is aimed at preventing tragedies like the Christmas fire in Stamford that claimed five lives.
"When something as bad as what happened on Christmas Day occurs, it behooves everyone to improve our situation," says Stamford Mayor Mike Pavia.
