Leftover pumpkins? Leave them for wildlife or compost instead of trashing

Halloween has passed and decorations have come down, but what can we do with those old pumpkins?
"Food scraps are a resource and should be viewed as that and not trash," said Stephanie Maynard, co-owner of the Ox Hollow Farm.
Action Waste Solution was at the Westport Farmers Market Thursday accepting any unwanted pumpkins and informing people how important it is to repurpose pumpkins and other foods.
Cows, pigs and chickens love pumpkins, a tasty and nutritious snack this time of year.
Other towns and cities are also encouraging residents to compost right at home, it can be as easy as leaving it out for wildlife to enjoy.
