A letter containing an unknown powdery substance prompted a response from local police and federal authorities Tuesday at the Connecticut Lottery headquarters in Wallingford.

The headquarters received the letter in the mail and shut down for the rest of the day.

Authorities said no hazardous materials were found after the powder was examined.

The building is set to reopen today.
