After a nationwide outcry, Connecticut may be the next passenger on the no trans fat bandwagon.Senator John McKinney (R-Fairfield) is pushing for new legislation that would ban trans fats statewide by 2008. In anticipation of the ban, some fast food restaurant chains have already begun the process of replacing all oils containing the fats that are proven to impose serious health risks such as clogged arteries and heart disease. Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) intends to have trans fats out of all restaurants by April.Norwalk Hospital stopped cooking with trans fats more than a year ago. If legislation is passed, trans fats will be eliminated from Connecticut restaurants by July 2008.
