A local Eagle Scout has given a gift to the town of Wilton.
Elliot Connors, 17, recently wrapped up a year-and-a-half project preserving a piece of local history. Connors plotted and documented the 700-plus headstones in St. Matthew's Cemetery.
Connors says one of the most difficult parts of the project was identifying stones that were unreadable. He says some were broken and others were just overgrown with weeds. That's why he says he knew something had to be done.
Thanks to his hard work and help from dozens of friends, it's now much easier to find a grave at the cemetery.
Connors also promised the maintenance director at the cemetery that he and the rest of Troop 125 are on standby to help out anytime.
