Police chiefs from across the state met with lawmakers today to discuss a controversial program that provides police with military equipment.
The police department in Fairfield has some of the former military equipment they got through the federal program.
It includes as vehicle they used during hurricane Sandy to reach people. 
Officers say that is how this equipment needs to be used.
